Original 3DS Games Bundled Firmware Requirement

Many 3DS XL / LL, 3DS & 2DS users are wondering about whether their original 3DS cartridges will work on their consoles or not, is there any system/firmware upgrade required ? Is it possible to update console to a certain system version ?

Original 3DS game comes with bundled system requirement, for example, Pokemon X (Europe) requires your 3DS system no lower than ver 6.1.0. If your 3DS is in 4.5.0 system, it will ask you to update your 3DS system to 6.1.0 before you can play Pokemon X. Of course, if you get a 6.3.0 3DS, Pokemon X will work directly, no need to update console system.

And the method is applied to update 3DS system to 4.1.0 - 4.5.0 for those running 3DS flashcarts, including Gateway 3DS, 3DSLink & Deluxe Edition R4I GOLD 3DS.

3dslink.com released its 3DSLink flashcart for 3DS ROMs on Oct 29th, 2013. It is said that red 3DSLink can support 3D ROMs on 3DS XL LL, 3DS and 2DS.

Ace3DS Pro Burnning 3DS ROMs - Fake ?

TGBUS.COM (source) reports today that Ace3DS Pro seems impossible to burn other 3DS ROMs than Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2011.

The editor disassembles two chips shown, the Ace3DS Pro can play Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2011 fine, but DS games do not work any more when switched into DS mode.

The disassembled Ace3DS pro still play Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2011 well.

Two chips on the right of 3DS LL are disassembled from Ace3DS pro.

It is just opinion from that editor, not what we thought about this flashcart as we have not tested before.

R4 3DS Cards Work on 3DS (XL) Ver 5.0.0-11

Nintendo updated its 3DS (XL) system into Ver 5.0.0-11 U/E/A/J, which luckily does not get many R4 flashcarts blocked except R4 3DS from www.r4i-sdhc.com (Kernel V1.67b fixed this block).

2012 Christmas is coming, and Nintendo released its latest 3DS / DSi systems to better e-shop experience for customers. However, this system update get many flash cards on market blocked.

If you are really boring about blocking your flash card and you have to get a new card, here we recommend this DSTWO card. Supercard Team will always firstly release their firmware patch once Nintendo updates their console system, and it is of strongest technological support. Except DSTWO, almost all fashcarts have been changed PCB design, leaving the old version unusable in new console system.

R4 3DS - R4i SDHC 3DS V4.5 Arrives

Finally R4WOOD.COM received this brand new r4i-sdhc 3ds v4.5 card released recently from www.r4i-sdhc.com.

As expected, this R4 3DS card works fine on 3DS (XL) ver 4.5.0-10U as shown below, and it should work on 3DS (XL) V4.5.0-10E/A/J too.

It seems that firmware upgrade are harder and harder for these flashcarts, and r4i-sdhc.com has to modified their PCB design. Thanks for its fast response although it feels a little rash judging from its workmanship. Hope you can enjoy it during your 2012 Xmas holiday.

R4i Gold 3DS Starting Stuck

Some R4i Gold 3DS users may get lost why their consoles get stuck at "R4i Gold 3DS Starting" when booting up r4i card, or frozen at "www.r4ids.cn Starting".

What is it ?
This problem sometimes happen to below R4i 3DS card made from www.r4ids.cn.

When booting up this r4i flash card, your console could not detect noPass kernel file successfully from memory card, and the progress gets stuck there, displaying "R4i Gold 3DS Starting" or "www.r4ids.cn Starting".

Why does it happen and How to fix it ?

There are several possible causes below.
1. Official Wood kernel has been installed wrongly.
- Users are recommended to refer and read official kernel installation guide. Remember to download the latest official kernel from r4ids.cn, decompress the xxx.rar file and save to the root directory of your memory card.

2. Some kernel file has been killed by your anti-virus software.
- Official kernel is safe and you can turn off your anti-virus software when installing kernel on your PC.

3. Two kinds of kernel are saved at the same root directory.
- Format your memory card into FAT32 on your PC, install official kernel again.

4. Your micro SD / SDHC memory card is not compatible.
- Recommend to use original SanDisk / Kingston Micro SD / SDHC memory cards.

5. Memory card is in bad contact with R4i Gold 3DS slot.
- Take out your memory card, clean the gold bar contact of your memory card, insert and try to boot again.

6. R4i Gold 3DS is broken.
- If all of above methods do not work, your r4i 3DS card may be broken.

3DS Video Capture Board

3dscapture.com released its 3DS video capture board after its DS video capture board. Currently video output is in 2D, and 3D capture is planned for later.

Features and Description

• Video from both screens are output over a USB connection.
• For original 3DS only, not 3DS XL/LL.
• Supported OS – Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8. There are no system requirements other than a USB 2.0 port, although a fairly recent multi-core CPU is recommended.
• Software can record .AVIs, take .PNG snapshots, or just be used as a display.
• Only video is output over USB currently; audio must be recorded from the headphone jack. The board is capable of doing digital audio capture over USB but it isn't supported yet, it'll be made available with a firmware update later.
• Only 2D video is output for now. 3D capture is planned for later.
• The card does not appear as a standard capture device (like a webcam, etc) to other software; you need to use the provided viewer software (link below). You can use another program for recording or live streaming, but it needs to be one capable of doing screen capture (Camtasia, Fraps, XSplit, etc).
• The software currently uses VFW (Video For Windows), an ancient API with some limitations, like 2GB AVI size limit and smaller codec selection. Files are split automatically, but there can be a small skip between them if you stitch them together. You can get around this by choosing a codec with better compression or use some other screen capture program for recording that doesn't have a size restriction.

Nintendo released its 3DS XL / 3DS system Ver 4.4.0-10 U/E/A/J a while ago. Up to now, some flash carts work with this 3DS 4.4 system, some not. Some parents want to buy one right gift card for this coming 2012 Xmas.

Note: In this video, all flash carts are firmware upgraded to the highest system compatibility. Please do not update your 3DS XL / 3DS console system before having your flash cart firmware upgraded if you have one already.

Maybe some people are wondering why we have not tested them on other console like 3DS XL Ver 4.4.0-10U or lower system 4.3.0-10E.
Do not worry about it. Once the flash cart works fine on this 3DS Ver 4.4.0-10J, it will surely works on 3DS XL / 3DS LL / 3DS Ver 4.4.0-10 U/E/A and below system versions.

2. Download RetroGameFan Muti Cart Kernel, extract that xxx.7z file via WinRar, find a folder named R4i Gold Plus, then open SYSTEM folder in it, copy extinfo.dat, infolib.dat, savlib.dat to overwrite the three ones in its official System folder.
3.At the same time, find usrcheat.dat at the same directory of R4i Gold Plus folder in that decompressed folder, copy usrcheat.dat and overwrite the official one in its SYSTEM\cheats folder.
4. Now you can take out your memory card and have it tested on your R4i Gold Plus card.
